Scam Prevention Project

The East Bay Community Law Center’s Scam Prevention Project was founded in response to the high volume of seniors seeking out legal solutions after falling victim to scams. Scammers disproportionately target seniors, low-income people, and immigrants. Nationally, one-fifth of seniors fall victim to scams each year, resulting in a loss to consumers of between $3 billion and $30 billion each year. Our Scam Prevention Project helps bring community legal services and preventive education to communities who are heavily targeted for financial scams. The project has been positively received at East Bay senior centers and senior affordable housing agencies, by service providers and attendees.

  • By appointment only. If you are interested in scheduling a Scam Prevention seminar for your group or attending an upcoming presentation, please reach out to Rachel Swanson at rswanson@ebclc.org
