Dylan Crary (Berkeley Law ’21)

Spring 2019 Education Defense & Justice for Youth Clinical Student

Dylan was a compassionate and committed advocate for the young people he represented. He worked on a range of issues including negotiating the settlement of an expulsion referral with a charter school that had quietly pushed out a student in foster care, advocating that a high school student with disabilities and an extensive trauma history should receive mental health services, co-writing a compelling motion for informal probation to help a client avoid protracted involvement in the juvenile legal system, and drafting a successful special education compliance complaint with the CA Department of Education after a school district refused to fund his client’s agreed upon special education program. It’s incredible how much Dylan managed to achieve in the course of just one semester with us!
