Spring 2019 and Summer 2018 Education, Defense & Justice for Youth: Education Advocacy Clinical Student
Amanda is intelligent, thoughtful, innovative, and passionate about social justice. Amanda’s first assignment was one of the most complex cases our office has handled. It would have been understandable if Amanda felt overwhelmed by the multiple areas of law involved in her client’s case—delinquency, school discipline, and special education—but she was unfazed. Instead, she jumped into the legal research and developed strategies that accounted for the differences in timelines and procedures for all three legal matters. Amanda anticipated the responses by opposing counsel and prepared counter-moves, and her adept advocacy ultimately resulted in a positive settlement agreement. In addition to Amanda’s prowess in direct services, she is also very conscious of the larger systemic issues affecting her clients, and her perspective always raised the level of conversation among our staff and students. EBCLC is excited to wish Amanda well as she commences her public interest legal career just across the Bay from us.
