Brenna Kearns (Berkeley Law ’20/EBCLC)

Fall 2018 Consumer Justice Clinical Student

Brenna exemplifies the type of advocate that CJC is proud to claim: she’s passionately dedicated to public service, she’s receptive to new ideas on how to serve the public, and when it comes to her clients Brenna simply won’t quit. Brenna’s given us many examples of this since she started working with CJC during her first year of law school, but one of the best illustrations of this is when she had to help a young client get proof that he graduated from a high school that burned down years ago. There isn’t really an area of law that covers this, but that didn’t stop Brenna from searching every nook and cranny available, or from navigating the second-largest school bureaucracy in the country to make sure the client got what he’d previously eaned. Most lawyers refused to even begin to help this client, and most would have given up long before they could have wrung the necessary concessions from the school district. Brenna is made of sterner stuff than most lawyers, and the Consumer Justice clinic is proud to have worked with her.
