Christina (Kiki) Tapiero (Berkeley Law ’20/EBCLC)

Fall 2019 Immigration Clinical Student

It was great having Kiki in the Immigration Clinic. They are clearly dedicated to social justice work. Kiki helped prepare and advocate for a detained client’s individual hearing in removal proceedings. They also conducted Know Your Rights presentations on the Census and DACA. I’m really proud of the work they did while in clinic. We are so lucky to have Kiki entering the field of immigration.

Fall 2018 Education, Defense & Justice for Youth: Education Advocacy Clinical Student

Kiki was an exceptional student in the Education Advocacy Clinic. Kiki’s impressive legal advocacy skills were on clear display in a particularly challenging case they worked on in Clinic. Kiki’s client was a student with developmental disabilities who was arrested at school and funneled into the juvenile legal system. Kiki was able to convince the district attorney to ultimately dismiss the delinquency case because Kiki anticipated and addressed the attorney’s concerns about public safety and had a plan that would provide support, structure and close supervision without the need for further intervention from the court or probation through prolonged involvement in the juvenile legal system.
