Fall 2018 Housing Clinical Student

Leila was a rockstar from the get-go. She was a 1L in the Tenants’ Rights Workshop and showed great rapport with our clients. I was overjoyed that she decided to not only be a Student leader for TRW, but also an EBCLC Housing Clinic student. Leila was particularly strong at Courthouse clinic, where we picked up cases that same day and attempted to settle them. For us at EBCLC, this is one of the hardest parts of our job. Leila had a deep understanding of how to obtain a result that would protect our clients’ interests, even when opposing counsel were difficult and hostile to deal with. She was able to save an elderly woman’s twenty-year tenancy when opposing counsel was dead-set against the tenant staying.
