Samira Seraji (Berkeley Law ’20/EBCLC)

Spring 2019, and Fall 2019 Community Economic Justice Clinical Student

Samira came to clinic with a deep commitment to social justice and they brought an incredible level of insight and emotional intelligence to their advocacy during their two semesters with CEJ. They intuitively understood how systemic inequities are reproduced on the community and interpersonal levels and were able to skillfully navigate complex situations that arose while serving CEJ’s community nonprofit and small business clients in their efforts to stay put in the midst of gentrification. Samira also advanced CEJ’s policy work, organizing a creative community presentation, soliciting feedback from tenants, and making key recommendations. Thanks to Samira’s thoughtful and critical insights, CEJ was able to develop a strong affordable housing policy that is informed by the community and support our business clients in deeper ways.
