Fall 2018 Education, Defense & Justice for Youth: Youth Defender Clinical Student

Vanessa realized her calling early in her life – to use her many talents to serve her community to the fullest. As a child, the seemingly constant unfairness and heart break she personally bore witness to galvanized her determination to protect “her” people – her family, the people she grew up with and the neighborhoods she came to know and love. Hardly a shrinking violet, Vanessa always proudly wore her heart on her sleeve when defending her clients. The depth of the genuine emotion and authentic feelings Vanessa is able to convey through her advocacy speaks to the immense loyalty she feels to the community she grew up in and ultimately yearns to serve.
