Vasha Maharaj (Berkeley Law ’20/EBCLC)

Spring 2020 Immigration Clinical Student

Vasha was an independent and very hard-working student during her time in clinic. She worked on a complex, defensive asylum case. The case involved not only complex legal analysis and significant preparation time for trial, but also ethical issues that required extensive research and analysis. Vasha prepared the asylum applications, declarations, representation forms, drafted motions submitted to the San Francisco Immigration Court, researched country conditions, and analyzed medical records and other evidence. I observed Vasha’s genuine enthusiasm and curiosity to learn and engage with clients and the legal work. I appreciated her positive presence, reliability and initiative. She was such a pleasure to have in clinic!
