Spring 2020 Immigration Clinical Student
Oscar took on complex and novel research and writing assignments, producing over 50 pages of legal analysis and written advocacy for clients in deportation proceedings. He represented one of his clients before the San Francisco Immigration Court and demonstrated the calm competence of a seasoned advocate despite it being his very first court appearance. Additionally, Oscar researched the Trump Administration’s dramatic overhaul of the public charge policy into a racialized wealth test and wrote and presented a training for immigration advocates and public audiences. Oscar’s dogged pursuit of justice is marked by thoughtful, committed, and fearless advocacy.
