Spring 2020 Immigration Clinical Student
Sarah proved to be a compassionate and fierce advocate for her clients while working in the Immigration Unit. She immediately showed her ability to adapt to working with children and minors in vulnerable situations. When working with a client who had trouble speaking about their trauma, Sarah took the initiative to introduce an emotion wheel translated into Spanish, to aid the client in expressing their thoughts and feelings in a non-verbal way. This type of initiative helped her client open up when discussing their traumatic experience. Sarah successfully navigated the intersection of Probate and Immigration Law and prepared her first Special Immigrant Juvenile Status case from start to filing with USCIS. Thanks to her advocacy, one of Sarah’s clients was granted Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and is currently waiting for their turn to apply for a Green Card.
