Spring 2020 Education Defense & Justice for Youth Clinical Student
Sarah was an innovative and thoughtful advocate, quietly fighting for justice on behalf of her young, disabled clients. Sarah had the innate ability to build rapport with her clients, and spent hours quietly listening to her clients and their families share their stories, making them feel heard, often for the very first time. Sarah’s client-centered approach to her advocacy, coupled with her fierce sense of justice, meant that during her time in clinic she was able to help two of her clients fight their expulsions and remain in school, and another one of her clients receive the services and supports she needed through her IEP (Individualized Education Program) to help her work towards her goal of high school graduation.
