Program Coordinator, Immigration Practice

Education

B.A. in Sociology, Law & Society University of California, San Diego (2021)

Alex J Hernandez was born in Mexico City. He graduated with a B.A in Sociology Law and Society and a Minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego in 2021 as a first-generation college student.

Prior to joining EBCLC, Alex was the Migration Assistant at Catholic Charities Community Services in New York City, where he provided help with immigration services to communities in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York.

His commitment to working with the immigrant community stems from his own lived experiences living as an undocumented immigrant in California, Kentucky and New York City and witnessing firsthand how immigrants are portrayed. He’s committed to fight the criminalization of immigrants in a system that is designed to reward the “most deserving” and villainize those that do not fit the “good immigrant” narrative.
