Leticia joined EBCLC in the Fall of 2019 as a work-study student first working the front reception and shortly after, moved to the immigration unit to assist with DACA renewals, pro-se asylum petitions, and intakes. Upon graduating from UC Berkeley in 2019, she transitioned to a corporate immigration law firm working as an immigration assistant, with a focus on F-1, H-1B, PERMS, and Adjustment of Status petitions. After a year in the corporate space, Leticia has returned to EBCLC as the first Program Coordinator for the Immigration Unit.

During her undergraduate time at Berkeley, Leticia actively participated in various community-centered organizations including Hermanas Unidas where she served as the Fundraising Chair, and the Student Immigration Relief Clinic where she served as the organization’s first Director of Finance.

Raised in South Central Los Angeles, Leticia is the daughter of Mexican immigrants who migrated to the U.S. from Oaxaca. Her family is from the indigenous regions of Mexico and to this day speak their indigenous language, Zapotec. Leticia is proud to be coordinating the immigration unit to aid in bringing EBCLC’s mission of promoting justice and community building to life.

Leticia se unió a EBCLC en el año de 2019 como estudiante y trabajaba en la recepción. Poco después, se mudó a la unidad de inmigración para ayudar con las renovaciones de DACA, las solicitudes de asilo y consultas. Al graduarse de UC Berkeley en 2019, hizo la transición a un bufete de abogados de inmigración corporativa y trabaja como asistente de inmigración, con un enfoque en las peticiones F-1, H-1B, PERMS y Ajuste de Estatus. Luego de un año en el espacio corporativo, Leticia ha regresado a EBCLC como la primera Coordinadora de Programa de la Unidad de Inmigración.

Durante su tiempo de licenciatura en Berkeley, Leticia participó activamente en varias organizaciones centradas en la comunidad, incluyendo Hermanas Unidas, donde asistía con la recaudación de Fondos y la Clínica de Alivio de Inmigración para Estudiantes, donde se desempeñó como la primera Directora de Finanzas de la organización.

Criada en el centro sur de Los Ángeles, Leticia es hija de inmigrantes Mexicanos que emigraron a Estados Unidos desde Oaxaca. Su familia es de las regiones indígenas de México y hasta este dia de hoy hablan su lengua indígena, el Zapoteco. Leticia está feliz de coordinar la unidad de inmigración para ayudar la misión de EBCLC de promover la justicia y ayudar a la comunidad.
