Full–scope immigration legal representation to clients, focusing on relief such as asylum, DACA, family reunification, removal defense and citizenship.
Skills gained may include:
- advising clients on eligibility for humanitarian and family-based pathways for immigration relief, permanent residency, and citizenship
- preparing supporting evidence, applications, and court filings – including motions and briefs
- determining case strategies to support clients in removal proceedings and clients in detention
- participating in community-based legal education and outreach.
Example Projects/Cases:
Example 1: A student prepared a pre-hearing statement and country conditions report to support the asylum case of a client in removal proceedings.
Example 2: A student met with client petitioner and client beneficiary to review evidence required for an application for permanent residency, ensured that all required documents had been collected, and prepared the full application for filing with the immigration office.
