The East Bay Community Law Center is proud to announce the release of its latest report, Sheltered In Place: The Community Centered Advocacy Behind America’s Strongest Eviction Moratorium. This retrospective offers an in-depth look at EBCLC’s bold, community-rooted efforts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to enact and defend what became the strongest eviction moratorium in the country.
More than just a look back, Sheltered In Place captures the power of coalition-building, legal strategy, and grassroots action to shift policy and protect thousands of renters in crisis. As we face ongoing threats to housing stability in our communities, this report offers critical lessons and strategic insights for the housing justice work that lies ahead.
To mark the launch of this important report, EBCLC will host a special panel discussion, which will take place this Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 5PM, featuring EBCLC advocates and community partners who helped make this historic policy possible. Additional event information can be found here.
