Maria Gabriela Guerra
Maria joined EBCLC in 2023 to provide legal representation for vulnerable populations facing housing loss. Prior to EBCLC, she was a criminal defense attorney for two years. After law school, she completed a fellowship with the Youth Law Center, where she focused on policy advocacy at the intersection of housing, foster care, and the juvenile justice system. During law school, Maria investigated encampment evictions in Oakland and San Francisco at Berkeley Law’s Policy Advocacy Clinic, and volunteered at the Homeless Action Center. Prior to law school, Maria worked as a grant writer for the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles, an organization providing permanent supportive housing for unaccompanied women on Skid Row. Maria is fluent in Spanish.
