Financial Hardship? You can call the clerks’ office to schedule a date to go before the judge to request an Ability to Pay hearing. Alternatively, you can write to the judge to request a fine reduction or payment plan, and get a written response [this is contrary to the court’s website}. There is a $50 fee for payment plans. The minimum payment per month is $50. Clerks can approve community service requests. If your ticket is in collections, you will need to contact that office to address your ability to pay. They will also handle requests related to civil assessment fees.

Driver’s License Hold/Suspension for Failure to Appear? You can get the hold removed by paying the full bail amount OR by setting up a payment plan (the hold is removed when you sign the payment plan papers), OR you can appear before the judge and the hold will be removed. If you get the hold removed by paying or going on a payment plan but you do not appear before the judge, you will still have a misdemeanor for failing to appear on your record until you go before the judge to request an order to remove that from your record.
