Advancing Justice in Coalition

EBCLC is part of a network of coalitions at local, state-wide and national levels to advance justice and promote a California where Black and Indigenous communities can realize thriving, healthy, and dignified lives.  We are leaders in community-centered policy advocacy in partnership with our partners.

Debt Free Justice California

Debt Free Justice California (DFJC) is a multi-regional California-based coalition focused on putting a stop to the unfair ways the criminal legal system drains wealth from vulnerable communities. The coalition is comprised of legal advocates, policy experts, and most importantly movement building organizations led by impacted people.

Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) Collaborative

TOPA (Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act) creates the right of first offer and refusal to tenants, and extends purchase timelines when their landlords sell their rented properties. Community Economic Justice Clinic is working to pass TOPA in Berkeley, which is critical in stabilizing existing housing for tenants and preventing displacement of BIPOC residents affected by gentrification and redlining.
