Primary Responsibilities:
Organization Planning and Leadership
- Represent EBCLC’s program work broadly in the community, supporting collaborations and connections with government, academic, advocacy, and policy organizations.
- Assist with developing communication strategies about EBCLC’s program work and coordinating the dissemination of EBCLC stories to the broader community.
- Work with Management Team on budget and office-wide planning.
- Together with the Executive Director, provide regular reports to the board and prepare documents for board meetings.
- Working closely with their direct reports, identify, evaluate, and develop new opportunities and partnerships consistent with the Board and Executive Director’s direction for the organization.
- Stand-in for the Executive Director at key meetings, as needed, and be an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization under the direction of the Executive Director.
Management and Operations
- Participate as a member of EBCLC’s Executive Management Team, working collectively with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance & Administration, the Clinical Director, Human Resources Director, and the Development Director to lead the organization.
- Supervise and provide support to Program Directors
- Work with Directors to develop and refine program strategies that balance community needs, service & mission impact, and program sustainability
- Develop and implement strategies to coordinate the provision of holistic services between practice areas
- Work with Directors on issues of staff and student supervision and clinical training
- Support implementation of annual program and staff assessments and internal racial bias training, as well as other professional development initiatives
- Work with practice groups to develop policy advocacy strategies that broaden the impact of EBCLC’s direct legal services
- Interface with Directors to support funding efforts by EBCLC’s Development team
- Help plan and coordinate meetings of EBCLC’s Management Team, in collaboration with the Executive Management Team and Program Directors.
- Plan and help provide staff and student training.
- Organize regular staff meetings, in coordination with the Director of Operations.
- Additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:
- A strong commitment and understanding of EBCLC’S mission and to racial justice.
- Experience collaborating with and/or providing strong customer service to people at various intersections including undocumented persons, homeless and marginally housed individuals, LGBTQI persons, non-binary people, youth, English as second language learners, people with disabilities, transgender persons, and formerly incarcerated persons. A lived experience that reflects these communities is highly desirable.
- Non-profit organizational management experience (minimum 5 years management and/or supervision experience; additional direct services experience highly desirable)
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
- Commitment to developing or strengthening skills in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated success in developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration.
- Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, innovate, exercise initiative, and manage multiple tasks/projects and sensitive information
- Ability to step into an active role immediately with a proven capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to provide supervision and guidance within a highly collaborative working environment
- Experience with, and/or a commitment to, clinical legal education
- Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion

Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep institutional knowledge about EBCLC’s organizational history, strategic priorities, shared values, management goals, and operational efficiencies.
- Experience successfully developing and implementing new programs desirable
- BA degree required; Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate preferred; Member of the California Bar desirable
Salary & Benefits:
Starting salary for this non-exempt position is $95,000 to $115,000/year based on the number of years of prior relevant experience, dictated by EBCLC’s salary scale.
