Ramon Becerra Alcantar was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico and grew up in Oakland, CA where he developed his love for social and racial justice. He is a first-generation college graduate. He obtained his Sociology degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Ramon has dedicated his career to advocating for vulnerable low-income and immigrant communities. He has trained with various immigrant rights organizations in the Bay Area and knows the immigrant experience intimately.
Ramon serves as the Director of Operations at the East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC). Prior to serving as the Director of Operations, Ramon first joined EBCLC as an Administrative Assistant, helping community members with their legal questions and providing them with resources and referrals. Later, Ramon transitioned to the immigration unit as a DOJ Accredited Legal Representative where he represented undocumented immigrants applying for various forms of relief and represented clients in immigration court. As a Director of Operations, Ramon hopes to deepen his impact beyond what he has accomplished in previous positions and continue to advance racial and social equity in the Bay Area.
